A World War Over Abuse

Is Trump's Past Leading Us Toward a Major War?
If Trump attacks Iran in the coming days, that will also be dangerous for Europe. If it only causes massive local damage, and the government remains in power, it might not be so bad for us. But that won't benefit Trump and Netanyahu. If the leadership is assassinated, the country could/will fall apart, causing significant instability and quickly leading to a regional war with Iraq and Turkey (a NATO member). Things will become truly tense if Iran feels so threatened that it closes the Strait of Hormuz. Then oil prices will skyrocket. China will feel compelled to act. It already has large ships moored near Iran to prevent its economy from running out of oil.
The US as a nation has no interest in a war in Iran. Tehran has never started a war and certainly doesn't pose a threat to North American territory. An attack would actually harm the US and the West. It amounts to a waste of weapons, but also of reputation and international law. If Iran ultimately manages to inflict more damage than expected, the whole world will see it. Nuclear weapons become much more attractive to countries that don't yet have them; it's the only defense against the empire. And especially if there are consequences for Europe, our people will be angry at our governments, which actively participated in repeated illegal aggression against Iran through lies.
Countries also attack other countries when their leadership benefits from it. And that seems to be the case here. Russia has blackmail material about Trump's mafia dealings and likely sexual escapades as well. Now, the central theme of the Epstein dossier is that the CIA and Israel also have such material about Trump and many others. There are also oil interests, of course. But Trump's slavish obedience to every aggression the Israeli regime devises makes it quite possible that evidence of crimes keeps Trump obedient—not only to Putin but also to Netanyahu. That Trump abused children, and worse: unfortunately, that is no longer evasive.
At the same time, Iran claims to have rape videos of Trump. That is credible. Iranian hackers claim to have Epstein videos. And Putin probably wants to share his Kompromat about Trump with Tehran. So Supreme Leader Khamenei threatens to "make many other things public" if Trump attacks. So there's a chance that Trump is preparing an attack because there are horror videos about him, and that he doesn't dare attack because of those same videos. It's called a Catch-22. Even if this isn't so bad, the mere possibility is an unacceptable absurdity that must be addressed.
It's also possible that the impending attack is primarily geopolitical, just in a way that outsiders can't rationally understand. Even then, the bigger picture remains that a citizen, a politician, and a country cannot allow our de facto leader to be a monster. Trump has broken more laws in his life than you can imagine. He's under foreign control. You shouldn't make someone like that your boss, but we're past that point, and apparently, for a long time to come. Now, as Canadian Prime Minister Carney already indicated, we must build a pragmatic world order that avoids, obstructs, and opposes the empire, rather than helping it. European leaders seem to agree with this. Yet, they lack the discipline to do so with Venezuela and now Iran. And that could prove costly.
